Bank Holidays are all about spending time enjoying the seaside and having fun, and a brand new Festival at the Felixstowe Ferry over the weekend of 24 to 27 August 2018, promises to combine all the wonderful elements of a tiny fishing hamlet, at the mouth of the River Deben, with an eclectic mix of arts and entertainment, workshops, craft stalls and fun activities to appeal to all the family.

Ferry Fest Felixstowe is an exciting new event in Felixstowe’s community and cultural calendar - a celebration of arts and community in the wonderful setting of Felixstowe Ferry. Over four fabulous days, Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club, St Nicholas Church and the Millennium Green will host live music, art, craft, dance, photography, theatre, a ceilidh, beachcombing, a beer and cider festival, hog roasts, picnics, a pirate themed family day and more.

Visit Felixstowe describes Felixstowe Ferry as having ‘a timeless atmosphere with its collection of residences, shacks and houseboats, alongside a pub, church, fresh fish for sale, boatyard and sailing club.’ Ferry Fest Felixstowe based at the Ferry will offer some great entertainment, at the same time as showcasing this special part of Suffolk’s coast.

Based in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the festival has an environmental message with the programme including opportunities to appreciate the natural setting on the River Deben estuary. Wildlife walks and talks, local storytelling, a photography competition, and a plastic pirate, Captain Fanplastic, made by pupils at Kingsfleet Primary School from non-recyclable items of rubbish. All this will help to highlight the issue of marine pollution and conservation.

Ticket prices will be low and some events will be free of charge, in order to make Ferry Fest Felixstowe a truly special event for the community. It is proposed to offer free transport to and from Felixstowe Town Centre, to reduce congestion and parking at the Ferry

To fulfil these aims, the events team are seeking support from local companies in the form of sponsorship by cash donation or in-kind. To get on board, contact the Felixstowe Festival Events Team.
